Shine a Light Lyrics - BANNERS

It seems like the pretty girl in pants and loose T-shirt was inserted in a clip only because the initial protagonist wasn’t capable of attracting the attention to himself. The clip is rather interesting, but the lyrics are not too diverged again. It looks like this combination – bright and interesting clips with languishing and faded lyrics – is the hallmark of this soundtrack. But we’ll turn to lyrics later, let’s look closely at a clip of this Brit pop.
First, we see as the motorcycle is steaming. The protagonist obviously fell from it during the ride. We only may guess where he headed to, as he is dressed nicely for a simple daylight riding a bike for no reason – he is dressed in nice skin jacket, lacquer shoes similar to plain Oxfords or even to shined calfskin or opera court Oxford shoes; the next are cozy and tight jeans and the white T-shirt. For some reason, he started running, up the hill and down dale, even on the puddles. Then he ran into some forest and there was a car of some scum backs, who kidnapped a girl and they were about to start torturing her, while our protagonist involved and kidnapped her back, thus freeing her. They both started running and when they eventually fled away, they started kissing. Just like that. Pretty legs of a girl follow us through the entire clip and even her pretty pants. Especially when she got caught on 3:21 by the scum backs who somehow knew where fugitive were heading to. In the end, we see as these two runaways overcame their undesirable followers and remain together in some empty and devastated storehouse.
We are not sure why it was so impossible to hire a prettier guy on the role of protagonist of a clip of this Indie pop rock. While the girl fully fits the role of one who was kidnapped – she is pretty, there is no misunderstanding in it. The man causes questions – he is as if some boy from 1980-ies, taken from the dancing contest when he competed Travolta and he doesn’t fit this life and the line too much. He isn’t a hero but must become one and surely not lots of guys want to associate themselves with him.
‘Shine a light on me’ is the most repeated phrase in the song. No wonder a song was called like that. While the rest of the meaning is crumbled and somehow wrapped-up – the guy thanks a girl she saved him from the self-devastation and she helped him when he needed it the most. Not really resourcefully. Maybe it is all because of the performer – Banners – are yet too young and they have to find their oeuvre path to define themselves, but their Indie is already pretty good stuff. Michael Joseph Nelson, a young singer, who is hiding behind the name Banners has a little visual semblance to the clip’s protagonist, but even he himself would be the better option for the video shooting. We are wishing him to deliver more than just several singles to this world.
